Rachael Tambree
Graduate, Advanced Diploma Business (Marketing) major in Public Relations

Rachael’s thoughts on her time at APM are below:

  1. What made you choose to study at APM?

The length of the course, the work experience and the small sized classes (compared to uni) - better teacher/ student relationships.

  2. What were you doing previously to studying at APM?

    I was completing the HSC.

  3. What did you enjoy about the course you studied?

The people I met (both students and teachers) and the work experience. However, I was generally interested in Marketing/PR to begin with so I really enjoyed every aspect of the course.

  4. What was your goal when you enrolled at APM?

To leave qualified, with good marks and get a job in the industry.

  5. What is your current job title, company name and job description?

National Corporate Sales Co-ordinator/Thrifty (car rentals).
Job description: co-ordinating the corporate sales team and being the next point of contact for their accounts.

  6. Describe what your current role involves?

Co-ordinating the sales team (13 people), ensuring their accounts are active and receiving the correct conditions in the computer system and being the next point of contact for all accounts after their personal account manager.

  7. How did you find your current job?

Initially met with the GM of Sales before there was a role available. The co-ordinator role came up not long after and I was offered it.

  8. What were the most successful aspects of the APM course?

Having both qualifications and the industry experience. I’m sure the reason I was called back for second interviews with some companies when I was looking for employment was the fact that I had some work/business environment experience.

  9. What advice do you have for other APM students hoping to break into your field?

Make contacts - I felt at first no one wants to give you a chance so it really helps knowing people when first looking for employment.

  10. What other career goals or aspirations do you have?

Would still love to get into marketing, I do work very closely with the Thrifty marketing team but eventually would like a marketing title.

  11. What other initiatives have you taken to help your career?

None yet - just concentrating on work at the moment.
