Event Management

What is Event and Management?

Be the planner, creator, and inspirational genius behind unforgettable weddings, festivals and parties. Visualise themes, engage clients, brainstorm projects and prepare for a fun, fast-moving and thrilling career.

An event is a type of gathering, be it a convention, fundraiser, performance, festival, media event, wedding, sporting event or party. Event management involves the project management of devising and developing an event that leaves a lasting impression on people. The person running the show is the Event Manager, who’s creative at heart, an excellent communicator and a multi-tasker.

Event marketers spend their action-packed day coming up with creative themes and formats, and liaising, organising and communicating with clients. Event marketing is an emerging field that uses events as a key element of the marketing mix for a product or service.

Rebecca Stynes
Events Co-ordinator, Austereo Network Sydney
Graduate, Diploma of Marketing

I chose APM because a friend had been to the college the year before and loved it. I enjoyed learning new things and activating my brain again! I was heaps of fun getting to know everyone in the class and I loved the presenting we had to do. It’s great getting up in front of people. I really learnt alot during my time at the college, stuff I use every day in my role.

I started out as National Multimedia Promotions Co-ordinator for Triple M. I took care of any online promotions that were happening in the station nationally and I managed a team of five co-ordinators spread across Australia. I am now Events Co-ordinator of the Austereo Network Sydney. This job involves looking after all station events for 2dayFM and Triple M.
