Traffic and Pedestrian Coordinator, Red Bull Air Race Perth

I owned my own café in the UK which I sold when moving to Australia. I was still in the hospitality industry but looking for a new challenge.
I wanted a formal qualification in Australia and went to one of APM’s open days and knew immediately it was the college for me. I really wanted to broaden my horizons and gain new knowledge. I also liked learning alongside others with a broad range of skills and backgrounds who, like me, had a definite motivation to learn and produce quality work.
My most recent role was Traffic and Pedestrian Coordinator for the Red Bull Air Race in Perth. The position involved co-ordinating and implementing the traffic management plan for Perth's largest spectator event. With in excess of 300,000 people attending over two days, my role was to ensure that the general public could travel and move around the event as safely as possible. I had to liaise and manage all the different stakeholders of the Red Bill Air Race, police, councils, mainroads groups, national disabled service, cycle groups, the taxi council and a whole other host of groups.
