Public Relations is all about creating awareness, educating and influencing opinion about your company, product or service. PR is often thought of as publicity but it is more than that. It is a way that companies communicate with their audience, which may be customers, government, or its own staff. Writing media releases and sending them to journalists is a frequently used tool. PR practitioners also get involved in crisis management ie. minimizing the damage to the company’s reputation when something goes wrong. And of course there is publicity, which is about getting positive coverage in the media for your product, service, event or company.
